The extrusion process
In this method the raw materials for production are fed to the extruder. Raw materials – a properly composed mixture of polypropylene with additives that give the product the desired properties. Inside the extruder the raw materials are mixed and plasticized. Having received appropriate viscosity, gas is introduced into the extruder, usually hydrocarbons, which are the foaming agent. At the exit of the extruder there is a head with a suitable geometry, followed by a cutting system under water. Polypropylene leaves the extruder, expands through the small holes in the head and the knives cut the extruded planer into granules. The granulate is sent to a drying room and then to storage silos, where it is conditioned.
